Vlog On Energy Bars and Surviving Kili

Thanks to Brandon Brazier and his lovely book The Thrive Diet for introducing me to the recipe for these energy bars and thank you to Hanli for first showing me the book (sometimes I take a while to learn lessons, hehe).

I basically used the first energy bar recipe as a base and then added my own tasties to suit me. Added shelled hemp seeds and LOADS of Maca powder, as well as some cranberries, sultanas, sunflower seeds, raisins and a few other tasties.

Can’t believe I somehow thought I needed to make eighty bars rather than forty! Ten days, four bars a day…FORTY bars Nathan! Hehe, have to laugh, I had fun anyways:)!

Enzymes and why you should LOVE to eat them

So…like, what are enzymes?

Well, enzymes are a type of protein which facilitates chemical reactions in an organism. Basically, they help everything to work better and faster and guess what: We use them for EVERY SINGLE chemical reaction in the body, every time we scratch our noses, or blink, or dream or think! Enzymes help us to break down all the food we eat, without them digestion is a no-no!

Enzymes  –to put it simply– equal LIFE!

As Dr. Howell said: “A person’s lifespan is directly related to the exhaustion of their enzyme potential.”
Crazy, huh?

Now you’re wondering, where oh where can I get me some of these lovely little guys!? The answer is that we should be getting them from our food…only one catch: if your food’s been cooked, those enzymes got FRIED! A sustained temperature of 47 degrees centigrade and up destroys ALL enzymes!

Although we produce enzymes internally, mainly in the pancreas (these are known as pancreatic enzymes…which makes sense), our own enzyme production is meant to be supplemented with the enzymes we get from our diet, and we have a limited supply which we ourselves can produce! Because people are eating such enzyme devoid food, it means that we are constantly putting huge amounts of strain on our bodies!

When you eat a cooked meal your body goes into massive overdrive attempting to meet the increased need for enzymes, and all the energy it has to produce to break down the food could be so much better used elsewhere (like keeping us youthful and energetic and happy, don’tchya think).

Simply put: if you are going to eat cooked food then please please please help yourself out with a good enzyme supplement! You can get them from most health stores (at least you can in the UK).

I hope this has convinced you save your life and eat enzymes now;). If not, every time you eat a cooked meal, give it huge amounts of love (this has been scientifically proved to change the physical makeup of things, so laugh at your own peril).

starting on a juice feast (fast)

Hello angels!

I am feeling decidedly hungry! Not sure how many days I’m going to stay on only juice for, the urge to eat is HUGE! Been having delicious celery, cucumber, lime juices all day with some variations…

Got so angry earlier! Angry at myself, angry at people, angry at a lot of things. I was at work and people kept asking me for things, the cheek! The fact that I am in a cafe and meant to serve didn’t help;).

I think that part of my urge to eat is to do with my defences. Trying to numb the sensations with food, although with raw food that doesn’t really work!
my friend coming to visit me after work and the satisfaction of leaving a clean and tidy cafe helped me to let go of the anger. I feel pretty darn amazing now, I tell ya! Going to have a hot hot bath and relax into bed asap! Oh yeah!

Have you ever felt like life is meaningless, that no matter what any of us does, it’s totally pointless and we all die in the end anyway? I used to have those moments fairly often…I would look around at all the people working, playing, getting married, studying, drinking, doing whatever and I’d get this ’so what’ feeling.

Raw food changed that for me. Once my mind began to clear and my spirit began to sing and my heart began to tell me secrets again, well, life became so much more interesting and fun!

Here’s a video of me having a rant about symptoms and roots…

Big love to the beautiful people commenting on this blog on GITMR, Fbook and here on wordpress. Much love and light to you all!

a happy man

Today is day 6 of my raw holiday and I’m feeling fantastic! I had a lovely spirulina breakfast followed by a green juice lunch and I’ve just finished off a deliciously raw chocolate bar as I sit at Alchemy waiting to help my friend Judith with her website.

I’m losing weight really fast, which I know is only a part of the process, but being a light person normally I’m starting to look pretty thin. I’m down to 60kg, with my usual weight being around 66… I hope that I can begin to put that weight back on soon, building my body out of beautiful high energy foods and not the other stuff.

Money is on my mind a lot at the moment, as I don’t really have any:). I know that it’s coming and I just have to be patient, but it means I can’t afford to buy all the delicious nuts, superfoods, seaweeds, ocean solutions and wheatgrass kits which I’m really excited about, not to mention winter clothes! Everything in its time though. Success comes from the ability to delay gratification…something I really need to practice;).

Here is my latest Vlog offering…spot the hippy;)
